Gunnaur is a prominent town situated in the Badaun district of the northern state of India, Uttar Pradesh. The district headquarters is in the town of Badaun which is located in the southeast at a distance of 80 km. from Gunnaur. The other neighbouring towns of Gunnaur are Babrala, Rajpura, Bahjoi, Narora and Sankra. Aligarh, the city of culture and heritage is located at a distance of 60 km from Gunnaur. Babrala Railway Station and Indira Gandhi International Airport are the nearest railway station and airport, which connects Gunnaur to other places in the state. Geographically, the town is located between 28.25° North latitude and 78.43° East longitude at an average elevation of 170 metres (557 feet) above mean sea level.
The India census report published in 2001 reveals the demography of the town which throws light on several aspects. According to this report, the town had a population of 19,105. To be specific, Males constitute 52% of the population and females comprises of 48%. In Gunnaur, 19% of the population is less than six years of age. Gunnaur has an average literacy rate of 31%. This shows that the literacy rate of the town is much lower than the nationwide average literacy rate is 59.5%. The male literacy is 38% and the female literacy rate is 24%.
