Gursahaiganj is a city situated in the Kannauj District of the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The Municipal board looks after the long administration of the place. The city is situated near the border of Kannauj district very close to the Farrukhabad District. Kanpur, an important city of Uttar Pradesh is about 100 km from Gurshaiganj and Lucknow, the state`s capital is situated at a distance of 140 km. from Gurshaiganj. The city is around 10 km from Talgram and 18 km from Mundarwa. It is well connected to the other places in the state. The nearest access points are Gursahaiganj Railway Station on the Kasganj-Kanpur railway line and the C A Kanpur Airport, which is the nearest airport. Geographically, Gursahaiganj is located between 27.12° North latitude and 79.72° East longitude at an average elevation of 146 metres (479 feet) above mean sea level.
The demography of the place is revealed in the India census report which was published in 2001. The report states that Gursahaiganj had a population of 35,752. Males and females constitute 53% and 47% of the population respectively. In Gursahaiganj, 17% of the population is less than six years of age. The literacy rate of the city as stated in the census report shows that the literacy rate is only 50%. The literacy rate is much lower than the national average literacy rate which is 59.5%. To be specific, in Gursahaiganj the male literacy rate is 57% and the female literacy rate is 43%. Lakh Bahosi Sanctuary is an exciting excursion site in the vicinity. The historical city of Kannauj, which was once the capital of King Harshavardhana, is located nearby and is renowned for its traditional perfume industry, old temples and mosques.
