Gopiganj is a small city with a municipal council in the Sant Ravidas Nagar district of the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Strategically located on the Grand Trunk Road, Gopiganj is positioned in the south of Bhadohi at a distance of 18 km. The Grand Trunk Road connects Gopiganj to the city of Gyanpur, the district headquarters. The nearest railway station is the Gyanpur Road Railway Station and the nearest airport is at Varanasi.
The population of Gopiganj is 17,938 according to the 2001 India census report. Gender wise, males account for 52% of the population and females` account for 48% of the population.
