Mallapuram is located almost sixty kms southeast of the locale Kozhikode in the city of Chennai.
The word Mallupuram has a literal meaning. It denotes any landscape located at the top of mountains. Topography wise, Mallapuram too is enclosed by Nilgiri hills at the eastern side and on the west there is long stretches of Arabian Sea. Thrissur and Palakkad districts are situated on the southern fringes of Mallapuram. Also three mighty rivers flow through the region, thereby ennobling the place to a great extent. These are namely the Kadalundi ,Chaliyar, and the Bharathapuzha.
