Vast continent of India houses several towns and cities. In the state of Tamil Nadu also one finds no paucity of town as well. Amongst several towns that have flourished here , the name of Kilvelur is worth mentioning. In fact Kilvelur is a panchayat town that is situated in the district of Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu state. To be specific , this Kilvelur town lies at a distance of 12 km east of Tiruvarur, twelve km west of Nagapattinam and also 6 km west of Sikkal. Sikkal is a renowned `Muruga shrine`. Beautiful Akshyalingaswamy temple enhances the tourist quotient of this Kilvelur town. At the time of inspection of this Kilvelur town of Tamil Nadu very closely , the demographers have developed interests to know the salient features of this very town. To fulfill such motive, they have devised certain reports, which are based on the facts that they have collected during surveying the town. In this regard , a due mentioning may be made of the Census report that has been brought out in the year 2001. As per this report , the total population of Kilvelur has been deduced to be 7404. Remarkably, both males and females who are residing in Kilvelur are in equal proportion. In other words, male populace constitutes 50 % , while the population of females also is the same. In Kilvelur, 11 % of the population constitutes of children who are six years of age Literacy rate acts as vital information about Kilvelur. According to this report, the average literacy rate constitutes 73 % and it is higher than that of the entire nation, which showed a counting of 59.5 %. Moreover the individual percentage of male and female literacy rates too are quite high . Males of Kilvelur are erudite which has been established from its high literacy rate . As far as the agricultural activities of this district are concerned, crops like Rice, Groundnut, Pulses, Gingelly, Sugarcane, Cotton, Gingelly, Greengram, blackgram are produced in abundance. Since this Kilvelur town is a part of the district it is obvious that people who are living in this town too follow the same tradition. |
