Gawan is a small settlement in Budaun district of the northern state of India, Uttar Pradesh. It shares its border with the Jyotiba Phule Nagar District border. It lies in the northwest of the district headquarters at Budaun. Babrala is located at a distance of 20 km., Anupshahr is at a distance of 12 km. and Rehra is at a distance of 11 km. from Gawan. Babrala Railway Station and Indira Gandhi International Airport are the nearest railway station and airport. It is located between 28.43° North latitude and 78.35° East longitude at a height of 193 metres (633 feet) above mean sea level.
According to the 2001 India census report, Gawan had a small population of 7753 inhabitants. Males constitute 53% of the population and females constitute 47% of the population. In Gawan, 19% of the population is less than six years of age. Gawan has an average literacy rate of 42% which is lower than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%.The male literacy rate is 50% and the female literacy rate is 32%.
