Hindupur deserves special mentioning. It is a city, which is located in the district of Anantapur of the same state and is controlled by a municipality.
The origin of the Hindupur town has got a rich story to back up. The name of the town Hindupur has bestowed upon by the Maratha chief, namely, Murari Rao. It becomes evident that he named the town Hindupur in remembrance of his father Hindoji Rao. The town of Hindupur is quite famous for several things like silk, jaggery etc.
Strategically, the town of Hindupur is quite significant. Hindupur has been located at 13.83° N 77.49° E. It has an average height of 621 metres or 2037 feet. To be precise Hindupur town is situated almost hundred kilometers from cities like Anantapur and Bangalore.

An adjacent village of the Hindupur, namely, Muddireddi Palli is a hub of production of silk sarees, thereby bringing huge amount of money to the entire region. Due to the
prevalence of the International Airport at Devanahalli(Karnataka) , people from the Hindupur town and also those from the nearby region get accessibility with other places.
Quite a number of places of interest have developed in the district, which has become an ideal destination for tourists. A tiny village, namely, Lepakshi , located almost fifteen kilometers east of the town of Hindupur. This has gained repute as a place of historic and archaeological importance. It is ideal for all the lovers of art and architecture in India. Especially, it is famous as the store house of the exquisite mural paintings that are made during the era of the Vijaynagar dynasty.
