Following the tradition of Indian subcontinents numerous towns and cities have developed in the Kerala state. One such significant place is Komalapuram. It is a census town that is situated in the district of Alappuzha of the same state of India. Komalapuram has been situated at a distance of 4.5 km north of Alleppey town.
Without developing acquaintance with the demographical scenario it becomes impossible for a person to recognize the salient characteristics of a town in the proper sense. Thus quite a handful of surveys have been carried on which made it possible for them to depict relevant information about Komalapuram viz. literacy rate, population status etc. A special mentioning is made of the Census report that has been issued forth in the year 2001. Information that is related to Komalapuram like population, literacy rate etc can be deciphered. According to this report , the total population of Komalapuram has been counted to be 43,281.By delving deep into this report one can get an idea of the condition of males , females as well as children. To be specific 49 % and 51 % are the population of male and females. This naturally leads one to conclude that the number of females is more than that of males. In Komalapuram town, children who are below six years of age constitute 11% of the population.
Whether a town or city has gained development or not can be identified from the literacy condition. In other words literacy rate is a yardstick for gauging the progress and development of a town. Taking clue from this fact it can be said that literacy rate of Komalapuram is higher and thus affirmed its progress and development. In other words , the average literacy rate is 84 percent while India`s average literacy rate is 59.5 percent. Specifications about male and female literacy rates too can be inferred. Thus the male literacy rate is 86 %, which establishes the propensity of males of Komalapuram towards learning and education. As far as female literacy is concerned it is also no less insignificant. Thus it has been counted to be 82 %. This Komalapuram town is a hub of wonderful tourist locales. Kaithathil Temple is quite significant. .
