Hemis National Park

The Hemis National Park is situated in between the valleys of Rumbak and Markha, in the eastern part of Ladakh. The park was established in the year 1981 with the aim to preserve the flora and fauna of the place. The park covers an area of around 600sq.kms, which abounds in wildlife.
The area of the park is quite rocky and thus does not support much of vegetation. The height of the region varies from place to place, with the maximum altitude of the place being above 3000meters. The region receives very less rainfall but in the winter season the temperatures drops to a very low temperature.
Wildlife at Hemis National Park!
The vegetation of the park mainly comprises of dry forests that includes fir, birch, juniper etc. The place also abounds in alpine scrublands, grasslands etc. Here, one can see a large number of endangered species of animals like snow leopard, ibex, Tibetan wild or kiang, Tibetan antelope, serow, golden oriole, snow partridge etc.
