This is the Largest District of Himachal Pradesh and is known as the entering point for Lerh and Laddakh valley. There are two Monasteries in this valley Tabo and Kye monasteries which are world famous and people from all over the world come to visit these monasteries. Buddhism dominates in this area They arrived in this valley in the 8th century AD
Lahaul is Green and fertile but Spiti have stark high deserts. The valley is not open for whole of the year because of the heavy snowfall and the roads gets closed thus the valley gets detached from rest of the country.

Keylong is the regional headquater of the Lahaul district
Kaza is the regional headquater of the Spiti district.
The district is connected to Manali through Rohtang Pass which is coverd with almost 10 months in a year.
Rohtang Pass is awarded for its natural beauty comprising of snowy montains, thick forests of Deodar and Pine.The pass is situated at an altitude of about 4111 mts above the sea level.
