Situated by the banks of Musi River and Deccan Plateau, Hyderabad is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The city has a history of more than 400 years. It was founded by Muhammad Quli Qutab Shah in the year 1591. It has some of the most historically important buildings. But the moment you enter Hyderabad, you get a completely different view. The city is among the fastest growing cities in India. In fact, Hyderabad is giving Bangalore a run for its money by becoming a strong contender for the title of IT city of India. The city is full of shopping malls and jam packed streets.
Hyderabad is a city which is known by many names. 'The city of Nizams', 'The City of Pearls' and 'Istanbul of India' are few of them. Hyderabad is arguably the only city of Andhra Pradesh that still holds onto the aura and charm of bygone era. It is also the only South Indian State where Urdu is the main language. Climate in Hyderabad is not highly fluctuating with summers being hot and winters absolutely pleasant. The best time to visit Hyderabad is during October and November.
However, there is a surprise waiting for you in the city. When hyderabad is sultry hot, you have the option of escaping it, by taking refuge in snow. Hyderabad has introduced a snow theme park. It is the first of its kind in entire world and still the only one in India. The snow feels so real that, it is like experienceing snow covered hill stations. Here you can indulge in ice skating and enjoy by throwing snow balls at each other.
Shopping In Hyderabad
Hyderabad is the most preferred destination for shopping in Andhra Pradesh. The city gives you a unique and glittering shopping experience in the many splendid markets. There are probably none places better than Hyderabad to shop for natural pearls and diamonds. The main markets for shopping for jewelery include Basheerbagh, Abids and Nampally. Some of the biggest showrooms of jewelery, textiles and handicrafts are found here. Close by is another market which is called Begum Bazar which is famous for Brassware items. But the true culture of Hyderabad is reflected in the Charminar Market. The best time to visit the market is in evenings when the entire markets seems to have woken up.The charm, the crowds and the energy in the markets will sweep you off your feet. Charminar Bazaar and Lad Bazaar are places where you can shop for traditional variety of pearls and textiles. This is also the oldest commercial market in entire twin cities. For showpieces, one can visit the General Bazaar where you will find shops selling imitations of jewelery.
