| Another interesting place to visit is the Akshaya Vat, an immortal tree as per the Hindu mythology. It is a banyan tree located in the underground temple, the Patalpuri Temple which is located inside the Fort of Allahabad. In earlier times, the devotees threw themselves upon the tree in order to attain salvation. Prior permission to visit the tree is mandatory from the Commandant of the Ordinance Depot of Allahabad Fort. |
