Vengurla Rocks

Vengurla Rocks

Located on the southern-most tip of Maharashtra's Konkan coastline, Vengurla is an unspoilt paradise of sun, sea and sandy beaches.

Vengurla Rocks lies to the southeast of Vengurla and is one of the main tourist attractions of the area. One of the chief features of the topography is the bare rocks without any water or vegetation, also known as Burnt Islands. The rocks were once an important navigation point for seafarers.

Check out the interesting lighthouse that is located about 10 km out in the sea. It is about 8 km north from Vengurla port and is approached, during fair seasons only by a mechanized boat that takes two hours to make the journey to the island.

Roughly hewn stone steps lead up a steep, winding path cutting through thick vegetation to the top of the hill. A fairly huge plateau houses the lighthouse and a few staff quarters. The view from the top of the lighthouse is simply mind-blowing. You get a bird's eye view of the jetty, the palm-fringed shoreline of Vengurla and the jagged cliff face kissing the sea on the right. To the northwest, thrusting out of the sea, lie the Vengurla Rocks.

If you require some private quality time, head for some rest and relaxation on the untouched sun-kissed beaches of Vengurla.
