| Located on the southern-most tip of Maharashtra?s Konkan coastline, Vengurla is an unspoilt paradise of sun, sea and sandy beaches. Once a bustling port and a major trading settlement during the reign of the Marathas, Vengurla's jetty today is nothing remarkable but an excellent point from which to view the setting sun. Though tiny, it was once an extremely busy port with trading boats docking at its jetty. Today, the fishermen's daily catch fills the jetty and makes a very interesting sight. The surrounding areas abound in natural beauty. An interesting bit of trivia is that India's famous cricketer - Sunil Gavaskar hailed from Vengurla. |
