| 8 km from Murud is the holy Sidhi Vinayak Temple dedicated to the popular Hindu Lord Ganapati.
The picturesque little village of Murud was known as Nandigram in ancient times. Devotees of Lord Ganesha believe that a visit or 'Darshan' of the deity here marks the finale to the 'Asthtavinayak' pilgrimage. The temple comes alive on 'sankashti chaturthi' on Mondays when devotees come here to offer special prayers. A grand festival takes place every year on 'Maghi Chaturthi',which is celebrated with much pomp and ceremony. |
