The Lohagad fort was built in the year 1564 AD to serve as a prison. The fort is located 10 km away from Lonavala and is known for its majestic entrance. The design of the fort is in the shape of the fangs of a scorpion, this made the fort difficult to conquer and thus it was very secure. The main entrance gate is called as 'Delhi Gate' while there are three gates subsequently after this. A cave greets the visitors at the third gate which was used to store the food materials.
