Munnar is one of the most spectacular hill stations in South India. The Tata Tea Museum has showcased some of the most interesting aspects of the genesis and growth of the tea plantations of Kerala's high ranges. The Museum is situated at the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea and has on display curios, photographs and machineries, each depicting a milestone that contributed to the flourishing tea industry of the region. The museum is a fitting tribute to the toils and commitment of its pioneers, whose efforts helped transform Munnar into a major plantation centre of Kerala. A sundial, placed on a granite block greets the visitor to the Tea Museum. A section of the museum exhibits the evolution in the tea processing machinery starting with the original tea roller, the 'Rotor vane,' dating back to 1905, which was used for CTC type tea processing. Learn a thing or two about the various stages of tea processing. Wrap up your tour of the museum with a visit to the demonstration room for tea tasting where you can learn a lot about the different varieties of tea.
