| Thimmamma Marrimanu is the local name for a famous banyan tree which is located about 35 kms from Kadiri and 100 kms from Anantapur. It is considered to be the largest banyan tree of its kind in the whole of South India. It has branches which spread over an area totaling nearly 5 acres.
It gets its name from 'Thimmamma' who was considered to be the manifestation of the Almighty. Thimmamma Marrimanu is entered in the 1989 Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest banyan tree. |
