History:
A tour to Ranipuram will reveal that it is a small place in the Kasargod district. The virgin forests of Ranipuram on the Western Ghats earlier used to be known as Madathumala. During the 1970s it was brought by the Catholic diocese of Kottayam from the Kandoth family who used to be the local landlords of this place. The new occupants named it in the name of the virgin mother. The Theyyam dance which colors the green mountains is the traditional dance to please the mother goddess.
