Sunheri Mahal

The Sunheri Mahal was built by a Bandalkand chief who arrived with Aurangzeb into the Dakhan. The Mahal can be found in Paharsingpura, a suburb of Aurangabad. The structure is made of stone and lime and once had a high pedestal but has since become run-down. The paintings in the Mahal had once been painted gold and so it earned the name, Sunheri Mahal. The Sunheri Mahal completes the Mughal magnificence with its remaining faded glory.

The Shah Ganj Masjid is one of the most stunning structures seen in all of India with its amazing architectural style of the Indo-Saracen. The mosque is seated on an elevated platform with shops on three of its outer sides. The fourth side is open and can be climbed via a flight of stairs. It has shops on three of the outer sides. The fourth is open and can be ascended through a flight of steps. The interior contain twenty-four pillars, out of which, six pillars are arranged in the form of a square.

The Purwar Museum, located on Safara Road, is a small museum that is housed in an awesome old haveli. The museum hosts exquisite collections gifted from a retired doctor. The personal collections of Doctor Purwar have been on display since 1970. Within the museum is a 500-year-old chain maul suit, a copy of the kuran written by Aurangzeb, and an 800-year-old paithani sari. The museum is open for visitors from Tuesdays through Sunday between 10.30 am - 1.30 pm and 3 - 6 pm.

The Dargah of Pir Ismail is a memorial to Prince Aurangzeb's tutor, Pir Ismail. The garden in the Dargah consists of many destroyed water tanks and fountains. The gate is regal in its form and it has a large pointed archway, which forms a sort of portico. The original entrance is through a small pointed arch, which is at the rear. The parapet is carefully decorated and the façade has three small windows with pointed arches. The corners of the terrace has a tower which is mounted with a rounded dome and spire whilst the Dargah is square and has five pointed arches on each side.

The Revenue Office building formally known as the Damri Mahal was built after the completion of the "Barra Darri". The building was constructed by insisting on a donation of a damri, which is equivalent to a quarter of a dub. All the laborers employed there were required to provide a contribution. The front of the building has an arcaded verandah that resembles the front of a portico, and consists of five scalloped arches. To the rear of the verandah there are ten rooms of varying sizes and arranged in a linear fashion.

The monument, Bibi Ka Maqbara was constructed in 1679 AD by the son of Aurangzeb as a tribute to his mother, Rabia. The design was based on the Taj Mahal and was inspired under the expertise of Ata Ullah, an architect. The memorial is crafted from sandstone while the walls are plastered with a huge marble dome. It has beautifully decorated floral walls all around with an entrance, which provides an amazing view of the memorial. It has been completely constructed from marble that gives a beautiful glow on moonlit nights.

Bani Begum Garden is a panoramic garden located 24 km from Aurangabad. The garden is known for its lush green surroundings and comfortable atmosphere. The garden got its name from the tomb of Bani Begum, wife of Aurangzeb's son, which is found in middle of this garden. Fountains, fluted pillars and massive domes can be seen in the garden and is landscaped in the Mughal style and presents with architecture of the departed period.

The Aurangabad Caves were crafted from soft rock during the 6th and 7th century. These ten caves are separated into two different locations, the Western Group Caves and Eastern Group Caves, which are located 1 km apart. The imagery is crafted by Tantric Hinduism. These caves sport a variety of images including an early type of Buddhist monastery, statues of Buddha supported by Ganesha and forms of barely clad and bejeweled women.

The Ajanta Caves consist of thirty rock-cut Buddhist caves and is situated 106 km from Aurangabad. The crucial designs of the caves are known as 'Chaitya grihas' and 'Viharas'. Five of the caves are Buddhist temples and the other twenty-five are monasteries. The Chaityas are expansive, rectangular cavities divided by lines of pillars. The Viharas are long rectangular shaped rooms with a sequence of small chambers, which are attached on both sides. The caves also provide a wonderful visual form of the life of Buddha and interesting stories from Jatakas.

Jama Masjid

The Jama Masjid can be found near the Killa Arrak. Five rows of ten polygonal pillars are connected by a system of arches. This separates the building into twenty-seven equal compartments. Each of these compartments is covered by a small dome-shaped vault bearing exquisitely simple designs. Five of the nine pointed arches in the front were put up by Malik Ambarnine. A spacious court in front of the mosque has open buildings on three sides for travelers. A water tank in the middle of the court is filled with water from the Malik Ambar canal
