Dewas in Ujjain Revenue Division, is situated on the Malawa plateau in the West-central part of Madhya Pradesh. The district is bounded by Ujjain in the north, Indore in the west, West-Nimar in the south-west, East Nimar in the south, Hoshangabad in the South East, Sehore in the east and Shajapur district in the North-East. The district derives its name from the district headquarters town, Dewas.
