Kinnaur is Located in the south eastern part and is the border district of Himachal Pradesh . It is surrounded by Tibet in the east. Two rivers flows through Kinnaur valley the Satluj and the Spiti. The district is devided into three administrative areas - Pooh, Kalpa, Nichar. The administration headquater of Kinnaur is Reckongpeo.

Abode of Lord Shiva thay is Kailash can be viewed from the district Kinnaur. The old Hindustan - Tibet road Passes through the Kinnaur valley along the bank of river Satluj and finally enters the Tibet at Shipki La Pass. Adventure in Kinnaur includes Parikarma of Kinnaur Kailash which is locally spoken as Kinner Kailash. It has an altitude of about 6050 mts. Kinnaur is the smallest district of India by population.
Kinnaur is famous for its Orchid apples and natural beauty of slate roofed houses.
