| Another famous garden that was laid out by Babur himself is the scenic Aram bagh. It was built in 1558 AD and was based on the classical Persian gardens on the banks of the fast flowing river Yamuna. It is popularly known as Mughal Gardens or Ram Bagh and was known to nestle the tomb of Babur before his remains were taken away to Kabul. With beautiful fountains in the middle of the garden, blooming flowers and a serene cool atmosphere, it was Babur's favorite place to unwind and listen to music. A sandstone pond, numerous well laid put pathways and three terraced garden is a beauty even today. The star attraction is the 2 tamarind trees dated to be over 200 years old. |
