Connaught Peak, formerly known as Mount Olympia, is the second highest point in Mahabaleshwar. The Connaught Peak, located about 7 km from the main market in the town of Mahabaleshwar, is at an altitude of 1400 m and named after the Duke of Connaught in 1880. The Connaught Peak offers spectacular views from atop. Kamalgadh, Rajgadh and Torana in the North, Panchgani and Pasarani Ghat at east, Ajinkyatara at south, Pratapgad at west and Elphinston Point and Old Mahabaleshwar located to its north-west.

It also offers a panoramic view of the Vena Lake and Krishna Valley. Known initially as Mount Olympia, Connaught Peak was a favourite spot for riders. The Duke of Connaught was so enchanted by its majestic view that he could not resist the temptation of associating his name with the spot. Hence, in 1880, Mount Olympia became Connaught Peak.

Another highly attractive feature of the Connaught Peak is the spectacular sunrise and sunset view it has to offer. It’s not rare to see people lingering around here early in the morning, waiting for the sun to rise or during late evening, when people flock here to catch here the fabulous view of the sun setting.
