| One destination which shows off the architectural splendour of Shimoga the best is the Sacred Heart Church of Shimoga. The church of the Catholics, the Sacred Heart Church of Shimoga is said to be the second largest church in India. The area of the Church is about 18000 sq. ft. with a big prayer hall, with a seating capacity of 5000 people and the impressive structure of the Church is built following the Roman and Gothic styles and aesthetics of architecture. However, the primary attraction of the Church is the statue of Jesus.
