| A drive up north along the coastal road to Maravanthe, 50 kms from Udupi, is the unique seaside town, where NH-17 cruises along with Arabian Sea on one side and the Sauparnika River on the other against a mountainous background of the Kodachadri Hills. The highway bordered on either side by the Arabian Sea and the Satuparnika River, with a backdrop of the Kodachadri Hills, makes the drive an out-of-the-world experience. If you coax yourself into leaving Marvanthe beach for a while to explore around, then head to St. Mary’s Island, which is another popular and spectacular holiday destination and is only a boat ride away. Ottanane, a place near Baindur, is famous for its glorious sunsets and is quite a favourite with tourists and locals alike. A little ahead is the Belaka Teertha Falls, which is also a spot worth visiting and is also splendidly beautiful. To truly appreciate the splendour of the location, one must view the sunset on the beach or take a drive along the beach, for optimum gratification of the senses. You can reach Maravanthe by several ways: the nearest airport is at Mangalore, the nearest railhead is at Mangalore and Udipi is merely 55 KM away by Road. The best time to come vacationing to Maravanthe would be any time between October and January. The endless stretch of golden sand, the swaying palm trees, the bright clear blue sky and the gush of the sea attracts a large number of tourists to this spot at all times of the year. | |
