Kerala is known for its indescribable beauty and splendour and all the natural locations within the state of Kerala only go to elevate the magnificence of this idyllic destination. One such spectacular location is the Athirapilly Waterfalls. A popular tourist destination, Athirappally is located around 60 km from Thrissur, at the entrance to Sholayar ranges, and is one of the most famous picnic spots around that area.

One of the most magical sights, the Athirapilly Falls is at a height of around 80 ft. and is located amidst forests. The fall joins the Chalakkudy River after a plummeting drop of 80 ft. The fabulous fall set against the backdrop of the lush forest, greenery and rocky terrain makes for an extremely tranquil setting, away from the cares of life.

For those who love exploring, trekking is the best way to get around and discover the areas surrounding the fall, more so, along the banks of the Chalakkudy River. Valparai is a hill station nearby known for its sprawling tea plantations and among the highest density of elephants in India. Also, Anakkayam, which is about 20 km away from the Chalakudy River and is known for a lake with calm and soothing waters is a nice place to visit around there.

The Anthirapilly Waterfalls can only be visited between 8.00 AM and 6.00 PM. There are occasionally some vendors there who sell jute hats and plastic flowers, making the place more tourist friendly. Do visit for the sheer beauty and the tranquillity!
