Among the important pilgrimage spots within and around Vijayawada is the Sri Nagarala Sri Maha Lakshmi Ammavaru Temple with Maha Lakshmi as the presiding deity. It is situated in the Chitinagar area and scores of people flock this temple. It is a belief that the deity has the powers which are miraculous and can bestow comforts and happiness to the devotees. During the main festival, Dusshera, the temple is filled with countless devotees. The temple is managed by the Nagarala community.
