The Jagannath temple stands on the south-west bank of the Jagannath Dighi Tank. Though now in ruins, the Jagannath Temple was built in an architectural style characterized by Muslim rulers; the temple is crowned with a dome and has a vaulted roof.

According to a legend, in the 1500 AD, Daityanaryana, the General-in Chief of Maharaja Bijaya Manikya brought the idol of Lord Jagannath from Puri and installed it in this temple. It was later removed from this temple and installed at Comilla.

But the texts of 'Silalioi-Samgraha' tell another story. According to it, Maharaja Govinda Manikya and his younger brother Jagannath Deva built this temple in 1661 AD and dedicated it to Lord Vishnu.
