Peace Pagoda

Peace Pagoda
Darjeeling-5042_2.jpg

The tranquility at the Peace Pagoda in Darjeeling should be experienced to be believed! It was built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii (1885 to 1985), a Buddhist monk from Japan and founder of the Nipponzan-Myo-ho-ji Buddhist Order.

The pagoda stands as the symbol of spirituality and peace. Four statues of Buddha glistening with gold polish and eight sandstone carvings depicting the different stages of Buddha s life adorn the walls of the Pagoda.

A Buddhist temple and monastery designed in traditional Japanese style is located close to the pagoda. Spend a few quiet moments here as you listen to the low hum of the monks chanting the mystic peace mantra myoho renge kyo.
