| Located towards the North of the popular Marina beach is the famous Anna Square. The popular Anna Square is essentially a memorial dedicated to the great Dravidian leader, Arinzar Annadurai. Adjacent to the memorial of Annadurai is the memorial of the great Tamil chief minister Dr. M.G. Ramachandran. The memorial is located in the midst of a beautifully laid out Park. An arch that looks like converging tusks of an elephant greets the visitor. A pillar like structure has an eternal flame burning at the small tomb. Spread over an area of about 510 hectares, the park features a small safari park, a nocturnal animal house, an aquarium and a museum. Anna Square and its environs is a popular destination for city dwellers and tourists alike and is worth a visit. |
